1-2 times per week
According to laundry advice expert and founder of Mama’s Laundry Talk, Lauren Hill, a baby’s sheets should go in the wash 1-2 times per week, unless obvious soiling is present. You should also toss the mattress pad in the wash, too.

Your cot mattress should be firm, with no sagging and fit the cot snugly, with no gaps. Alternatively, you could use a mattress protector, which covers the mattress to stop it getting wet if the baby dribbles or their nappy leaks.
Think of it as an extra layer of warmth and softness as you slumber. It also protects the blanket or the comforter from getting dirty. On warmer nights the flat sheet can be used by itself instead of a blanket.
